The collision of a Punjab Roadways bus and a private bus took place at PAP Chowk in Jalandhar due to dense fog. However, nobody was injured in the incident.
Incident Details
The always-jam-packed PAP Chowk in Jalandhar recorded a scary situation in the wee hours of the morning when, due to the intense fog, almost zero visibility rendered a truck that was in front of both the buses applying the brakes all of a sudden, leaving very little time to react for the drivers. The result was a load of dents on the front part of the vehicles. This accident prevented an accident and thus nobody got injured.
Extended fog advisory
A thick blanket of fog has engulfed Punjab. The weather department has predicted six more days of hazardous weather till the end of December 27. The minimum temperature remains invariable for 48 hours and then plunges by 3-5° C. This is accompanied by extremely cold days and the possibility of light rain in certain areas like Gurdaspur and Amritsar. Gurdaspur recorded a low of 6.8° C, turning out to be the coldest place in the state yesterday. Safety measures When Police sources appeal to all the road-users to avoid unnecessary journeying, maintain low speed, keep to the road and use fog lights or low beam headlights. Two-whealed vehicles as well as pedestrians should keep a watchful eye. Reflective strips on vehicles are also handy. Conditions on highways like Delhi-Amritsar are to be treated as critical because of less visibility due to fog and clouds.
