In a major law enforcement review exercise, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, IPS, chaired a high-level State Law & Order Meeting at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur today.

The meeting brought together all Range DIGs, SSPs, and Commissioners of Police to assess the ongoing anti-drug operations and the overall internal security situation across the state.

Senior officials including Special DGP Law & Order, Special DGP Intelligence, Additional DGP Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Additional DGP Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), and Additional DGP Counter Intelligence were present and addressed field officers.

They discussed the latest developments in drug trafficking, organized crime, Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, and emerging threats to law and order.

A major focus of the meeting was the progress under the ongoing anti-drug campaign Yudh Nashian Virudh, launched on March 1, 2025. As part of the campaign, Punjab Police has so far registered 13,665 FIRs, arrested 18,424 accused, and seized 900 kg heroin, 332 kg opium, 13 kg charas, 6 kg of synthetic drug ‘ice’, and over ₹11.5 crore in drug money.

Authorities have also demolished 162 drug-linked properties under legal provisions. DGP Gaurav Yadav highlighted the campaign’s effectiveness, noting a 90% conviction rate achieved so far.

He reiterated Punjab Police’s firm commitment to tackling the drug menace and maintaining public safety through coordinated enforcement and intelligence-based operations.

The meeting also served as a strategic platform to realign field units with updated intelligence and operational guidelines, ensuring enhanced coordination in the fight against narcotics and organized crime in Punjab.
