A bomb threat email was sent to Ludhiana Municipal Corporation on Monday after unknown persons threatened to blow up the Mayor’s office in Ludhiana and the house of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh.
According to information received the threatening email was sent on the morning of May 25 to official email addresses linked with Ludhiana Municipal Corporation and the mail claimed responsibility in name of “Khalistan National Army” and mentioned specific timings for attacks. The email also contained threatening language targeting Diljit Dosanjh and referred to incidents connected to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
After the email surfaced security agencies and local police were alerted and officials have started an investigation into the source of the mail and cyber teams are also expected to examine technical details linked with the sender’s account. As per reports no explosive material has been recovered so far and no incident has been reported till now.
The threat comes during an ongoing controversy involving Diljit Dosanjh as earlie a viral social media post had claimed that the popular singer could soon enter politics and become a new political face in Punjab which was spread widely online and triggered discussions among fans and political supporters.
However Diljit Dosanjh publicly denied all such rumours and responding to the speculation on social media he wrote “Kadey v nhi… mera kam entertainment karna” meaning that he has no plans to enter politics and only wants to focus on entertainment.
The matter later became more serious after a firing incident was reported outside the residence of Diljit’s manager Gurpartap Singh Kang in Gonder village of Haryana’s Karnal district. According to reports unidentified persons allegedly opened fire outside the house late at night and soon after the incident several social media posts claimed that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the attack.
