An attack inside Jalandhar Heights-1 on 66-Feet Road in Jalandhar has been reported and the incident took place near Block V close to clubhouse area built by AGI and CCTV footage of the attack has also surfaced showing several youths allegedly attacking a 17-year-old boy with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing from the spot.
The injured boy is reportedly a Class 12 student and has been identified as Aarush Chopra son of Sanjeev Chopra who is a resident of Gurjepal Nagar in Jalandhar and his father stated in police complaint that the teen had gone to Jalandhar Heights on May 15, 2026 to meet a friend.
As per the statement given to police, Aarush was standing near the clubhouse in front of V Block at around 7 pm to 7:15 pm when a group of youths arrived in vehicles and the FIR also mentions that a numberless white Scorpio-N and a numberless Swift car reached the area first while another blue XUV 700 vehicle bearing registration number PB08-FM-5050 was also allegedly involved.
The complaint states that around 10 to 15 youths came out of the vehicles with their faces covered and they were allegedly carrying sharp weapons including swords, datars and punches and two of the accused have been named in the FIR as Vaibhav Puri son of Sudhir Puri and a resident of Jalandhar Heights-1 and Krishna Gabba of Jalandhar and police said other unidentified youths were also part of the group.
According to the FIR attackers allegedly assaulted Aarush with weapons soon after approaching him and the complaint further alleges that Vaibhav Puri attacked Aarush on his right knee with a datar causing him to fall on the ground and even after he fell the attackers allegedly continued beating him. The FIR also states that one of the attackers recorded a video of the assault on a mobile phone during the incident.
The complaint further says that Aarush shouted for help after which the accused allegedly snatched his gold bracelet and threatened to kill him before escaping from the spot in their vehicles, Sanjeev Chopra told police that his son somehow managed to contact him on phone after the attack following which he rushed to Jalandhar Heights and took his injured son to PHC Jamsher for treatment. Doctors there provided first aid and prepared a medico-legal report commonly known as an MLR.
The FIR also mentions an earlier argument that allegedly took place a day before attack and according to the statement Aarush had visited Jalandhar Heights on May 14 as well to meet a friend and during that visit he was standing near the fountain outside the clubhouse when Vaibhav Puri and Krishna Gabba allegedly confronted him and asked why he was staring at them to which Aarush reportedly replied that he had said nothing to them and asked why they were arguing with him. The complaint states that the two then allegedly threatened him by saying they would “see him later” before leaving the spot and the family believes the attack happened due to this earlier dispute.
The medico-legal report prepared by doctors recorded five injuries on Aarush Chopra’s body and the report states that four injuries were simple injuries caused by a blunt weapon while the fifth injury was caused by a sharp weapon and was kept under observation. The medical report describes the injuries in detail in which the doctors found a linear abrasion on back of the right shoulder, a linear abrasion on the front side of the left thigh and a linear abrasion on the right wrist joint while a reddish bruise was also found on the left cheek.
Police have registered a case under Sections 115(2), 118(1), 303(2), 351(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and Police Post In-charge ASI Jasvir Singh said Aarush has now been discharged from the hospital and also confirmed that police are searching for accused named in FIR including Vaibhav Puri and other unidentified youths involved in the attack.
CCTV footage reportedly shows the attackers entering and leaving the premises despite presence of security staff at the gate and reports also claim that security personnel did not stop the accused while they were leaving the complex after the attack and the incident took place only a short distance away from a nearby police post raising further questions about safety and law enforcement presence in the area.
