
A firing incident was reported at Eastwood Village, located along the Jalandhar-Phagwara Highway, late Tuesday night, leaving one youth injured. The victim, identified as Sandeep, a resident of Phagwara, sustained a bullet injury in his leg and was rushed to a private hospital in Rama Mandi, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
According to initial reports, a group of youngsters had created a ruckus inside Eastwood Village and when security bouncers present there tried to intervene, a scuffle broke out, during which shots were fired, injuring Sandeep in the thigh.
Eyewitnesses claimed that Sandeep was working as one of the bouncers at Eastwood Village, and the youth, identified as Sukha from Talhan village, had allegedly opened fire and fled the scene immediately after the incident.
On receiving information, the Phagwara police teams reached the site and began investigations. A bullet shell was recovered from the scene, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined to ascertain the sequence of events and identify those involved.
Police officials said further action would be taken once the inquiry establishes the role of the individuals present during the incident.
