The Firozpur Division of Northern Railway has reported a revenue of Rs 2.82 crore from ticket checking drives conducted in October 2025, marking a 39 percent increase compared to the same month last year. The amount also exceeds the target set by Railway Headquarters, New Delhi, by 11 percent.
According to divisional officials, ticket checking teams carried out extensive inspections across trains to curb unauthorized and irregular travel. During the month, a total of 41,387 passengers were found traveling without valid tickets or committing other ticketing irregularities, leading to fines and penalty collections amounting to Rs 2.82 crore.
Alongside these checks, the division also intensified its cleanliness drives at major railway stations to promote awareness and discourage littering. As part of these efforts, 461 passengers were penalized under the Anti-Littering Act, generating over Rs 80,000 in fines during October.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar said that such campaigns would continue regularly to ensure that passengers travel with valid tickets and adhere to railway regulations. “The primary goal is not just to penalize, but to encourage responsible travel habits among passengers,” he said.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Paramdeep Singh Saini credited the success to the dedication and vigilance of the division’s ticket checking staff. “Our teams are conducting continuous drives to check irregular travel and raise awareness about cleanliness and passenger discipline,” he added.
"The Firozpur Division plans to sustain its momentum through regular monitoring and awareness campaigns aimed at improving compliance and passenger experience across the network", he added.
