Tension gripped Ludhiana’s Sundar Nagar area after a gangster allegedly tried to escape an Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) team and ended up hitting a passerby with his vehicle. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the vehicle speeding through the area before striking a rickshaw puller.
The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is being monitored by doctors.
Faridkot AGTF Team Was Tracking Wanted Gangster
According to preliminary information, a Faridkot AGTF team had reached Ludhiana while searching for wanted gangster Gurpreet Singh, who was allegedly wanted in connection with a serious criminal case.
The team reportedly deployed three vehicles to track the gangster’s Thar. When the police moved in to intercept the vehicle, Gurpreet allegedly accelerated in an attempt to flee.
Rickshaw Puller Hit During Escape Attempt
During the chase, the speeding Thar reportedly struck a rickshaw puller who was on the roadside. The impact left the man seriously injured, prompting police and locals to rush him to a nearby hospital.
The CCTV footage has now surfaced, providing visuals of the dramatic sequence and the moments surrounding the collision.
Gangster and Associates Arrested
Police managed to stop the vehicle and arrest Gurpreet Singh along with his associates. The Thar used during the alleged escape attempt was also taken into custody.
The police are now investigating the circumstances leading up to the chase, the gangster’s alleged criminal links and the full sequence of events captured on CCTV.
Investigation Underway
The incident has once again highlighted the risks posed to civilians during high-speed attempts by wanted criminals to evade arrest. Police are expected to examine CCTV footage and other evidence to establish exactly how the collision occurred and determine the charges against those arrested.
