Two suspects allegedly targeted woman sitting inside car
A woman was allegedly robbed of a three-tola gold chain in broad daylight while she was sitting inside a car in a busy market area of Goraya.
According to the complaint submitted to Goraya Police Station, the woman, identified as Mamta, wife of Vipin Kumar and a resident of Phagwara, had arrived in Goraya with her family for shopping.
The family first visited a clothes shop and later went to a shop on Bada Pind Road to purchase electrical items. While Mamta remained seated inside the car with her daughter and a relative, her husband went inside the shop.
Suspect allegedly opened car door and snatched chain
Mamta alleged that two men arrived on a scooter. While one suspect remained near the scooter, the other allegedly approached the car, opened its door and snatched the gold chain she was wearing.
The chain reportedly weighed around three tolas and was allegedly worth lakhs of rupees.
The suspects then fled towards Phagwara, despite the family raising an alarm.
CCTV footage reportedly captures suspects
The complainant has submitted a written complaint at Guraya Police Station. She also stated that CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced and allegedly shows both suspects, with their faces visible.
Police are now expected to examine the CCTV footage and work to identify and trace the suspects.
The incident has also raised concerns over the safety of shoppers in busy market areas, particularly during daytime hours.
