Government dedicates road in name of singer Satinder Sartaj, increasing pride of ‘Punjabiyat
The Punjab government has once again proved that it not only works on development projects, but also takes full responsibility for preserving Punjab’s culture, art, and honoring those artists who make Punjab shine across the world. Following this vision, a major road in the Chabbewal area of Hoshiarpur district is now being named “Dr. Satinder Sartaj Road.” This step is not just about renaming a road, but about honoring an artist who has made every Punjabi proud with his Sufi voice, poetry, and humility.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, this initiative shows the Punjab government’s forward-thinking approach that wants to spread messages of respect and inspiration through art, education, and culture in every corner of the state. The government has set a new example of honoring the state’s rich culture and art. The road will now be known as ‘Dr. Satinder Sartaj Road’. Punjab’s Public Works Department (B&R Branch) has issued an official notification for this road naming.
This road symbolizes respect for Dr. Sartaj’s exceptional contribution to Punjabi literature, music, and Sufi tradition. His songs and poetry have become symbols of Punjabi culture not only in Punjab but around the world. His simplicity, intelligence, and thoughtful creations continue to inspire the new generation. Dr. Sartaj is being given this honor because through his life, songs, and scholarship, he has carried Punjab’s soul to the world. His works have not only enriched the music world but also connected youth with their heritage and values.
Today, as Punjab is building its new identity—through art, education, youth empowerment, and cultural pride—such initiatives directly connect with people’s hearts. They show that the government doesn’t just administrate, but understands Punjab’s pride and soul, values artists, and works with all sections of society. The Aam Aadmi Party government has taken many revolutionary steps in education, health, and cultural revival in recent years, and this honor is another important effort in that direction.
The road inauguration ceremony will be held on Monday, November 10, at 11 AM at Dana Mandi, Chabbewal. This historic occasion will be presided over by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann himself. Along with him, MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar will be present. This event is being organized by Punjab Public Works Department (B&R Branch). The ceremony will be held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain by the Public Works Department (B&R Branch), Hoshiarpur.
Under CM Mann’s leadership, the government is continuously taking steps that are taking Punjab’s true identity—literature, music, Sufi tradition, and folk culture—to new heights. “Dr. Satinder Sartaj Road” will not just be a road, but a symbol of inspiration, respect, and Punjabi pride. It represents a Punjab that considers its sons of the soil as crowning jewels and records their contributions in history. This initiative strengthens people’s belief that this government is committed to respecting every artist, farmer, youth, and hardworking family of Punjab.
