A GST team raided an office of a prominent AAP leader in PPR Market situated in Jalandhar on Monday, February 16. As per the reports, it is alleged that the officers were confined in the premises for nearly two to three hours. Sources reveal that the raid appears to have been linked to a popular restaurant where raids were conducted and a large sum of cash was seized just a few months ago.
Reportedly, the department raided four locations that included the home and office of the prominent AAP leader. During the raid, the situation became so tense and the GST team officials were held hostage by the bouncers deployed there. Upon receiving information about the government employees being held hostage, the Jalandhar police officers arrived at PPR Market with a police force and intervened. Police team taking immediate action freed the hostage employees.
As per the information, the GST department carried out searches at four locations with around ten to twelve officials that arrived in three vehicles. As of now, Investigators are said to be examining possible connections between that previous case and the current operation.
