
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Wednesday appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest temporal seat of Sikh authority.
Bains accepted mistake in front of five Singh Sahibans for organizing a dance and song program on July 24 on behalf of the Punjab Language Department on the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
A musical performance by Punjabi singer Bir Singh was also organised.
Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Ghangad, while pronouncing punishment to Minister Bains, said that now he will go on foot from the Golden Temple to Gurdwara Guruke Mahal, performing his cleaning duties.
Before reaching Gurdwara Kotha Sahib, he must disembark 100 meters away and again proceed on foot, continuing the cleanliness work.
After this, he will get down 100 meters before reaching Gurdwara Kotha Sahib. From there he will go on foot to the Gurudwara. Along with this, he will get the way cleaned.
After this, he will get down 100 meters before reaching Gurdwara Patshahi Baba Bakala Sahib and ensure the road is cleaned and maintained.
Furthermore, Minister Bains will have to visit Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi and Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Anandpur Sahib.
After bowing down at both the places, he will have to perform Sewa for 2 days in joda ghars (show houses) in each of the Gurudwaras.
Along with this, Ardaas will be done by offering deg (prasad) worth Rs. 1100. On this, the minister said that I accept the punishment.
On August 1, Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Language Department Director Jaswant Singh Zafar were ordered to appear in person before the five Singh Sahibans.
The meeting was postponed that day. Both were asked to appear on August 6. Zafar did not appear due to being abroad and sent a letter requesting to appear later. Zafar will now appear on August 13.
