

The weather in Punjab has flipped dramatically. The early summer heatwave in Punjab gave way to rain showers and temperatures have plunged to winter levels. People in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and other parts of the state are bringing out warm clothes. Temperatures have dropped to a certain level across the state now.
Three-day heavy rain onslaught
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) Punjab is expected to receive widespread rainfall between March 18 and 20, with cloudy skies already setting the tone across the region. Weather conditions may turn more intense on March 20, with chances of thunderstorms and intermittent showers.
The IMD forecast for mid-March looks odd. The month began with record highs above 32°C. That spike was seen as a "winter farewell" even though the scorching summer is still a few weeks away.
The IMD issued a weather update for the main regions of Punjab and the adjoining regions.
Chandigarh logged 18.4°C with a northern wind at 3.7 km/h. The forecast says the air will feel damp and chilly. Amritsar is at 17.8°C and has the same conditions.
Moving on to Patiala, it's 19.2 degrees celsius with winds from the north-northwest at 1.9 kilometers/hour.
In Ludhiana the weather is 18.2 degrees celsius with winds from the northeast at 3.7 kilometers/hour. That indicates cloud cover and a high chance of rain.
In Ambala, it is 20.4° C, with northwesterly winds at 3.7 km/h while other weather conditions are similar. Hisar shows 21° C temperature, with winds west north westerly at 7.4 km/h.
In this line, Karnal has recorded a maximum of 21.4° C with wind conditions of no movement at 0 km/h. This shows that the wind conditions are relatively stable but the atmosphere is still moist.
As for the weather itself, the regions of Punjab and adjoining Haryana are experiencing an overall weather condition with low temperature, and a cloudy atmosphere with an overall to slight rain fall. Wind conditions are generally low which support the overall cloud cover residents of these regions can experience a cooling humidity day with a slight rain and moisture cover cloud day.
Thursday: Cloudy. 22-24° C in the day, 12-14° C at night. Wind about 15-20 km/h from the south west.
Friday: Thunderstorms are likely, worse around Jalandhar- Ludhiana. Hail possible. 14-22 Degrees Celsius and about an 80% chance of rainfall.
Saturday: This will be the day with the heaviest rainfall. Apple weather predicts a weather dip of 12 degrees, which is the lowest rainfall for the month of March.
Urban flooding is occurring in Delhi while Farmers’ concerns about unseasonal damage to wheat crops are justified. Experts predict weather clearance after this Sunday and clear summer weather will follow.
