Will snowfall in Himachal Pradesh impact Punjab's Weather?

The answer is yes. In general, rainfall and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh in December intensify Punjab's winter. Due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab may witness cold waves and temperature drops of 2–5°C. This process increases fog density and humidity in Punjab, making conditions feel harsher despite no direct snow in the plains.

Interestingly, IMD Chandigarh has already issued a yellow alert for cold wave in multiple districts of Punjab.

The weather department had issued yellow alert for cold wave from November 30 to December 2 in districts like- Jalandhar, Moga, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Bathinda, Muktsar, and Fazilka.

Notably, on November 30, 2025, Faridkot became the coldest district of Punjab at 2°C (lowest temperature). Other districtsrecorded the following temperatures-

  • Amritsar- 4.8°C

  • Ludhiana- 8°C

  • Patiala- 7.8°C

  • Pathankot- 5.3°C

  • Bathinda- 6.2°C
