In what is being termed a historic development for the Jalandhar Central constituency, Surya Enclave and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue have finally been approved for transfer to the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar — a long-pending move awaited for several years.
The decision has opened the door for long-delayed civic development, bringing relief and renewed hope to thousands of residents. This major breakthrough is being widely credited to the persistent efforts, continuous follow-up, and people-first approach of Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli.
After the decision, representatives of six major resident societies jointly thanked Kohli, calling the achievement a result of his “unwavering commitment” and “consistent advocacy” for the area.
Rajiv Dhamija, President of Surya Enclave Welfare Society, said Kohli pursued a complex, years-old issue with seriousness and consistency. He called the decision “a new direction for development,” adding that municipal takeover will now accelerate work on roads, sewerage, streetlights and other civic amenities.
Shaurya Green RWA President Paramvir Singh Pathania said Kohli’s deep understanding of local problems and his commitment to resolving them led to this landmark move.
SK Tuli, President of Surya Enclave Vikas Society, said the area had been waiting for development for many years due to administrative delays.
“It is only due to Nitin Kohli’s persistent efforts that Surya Enclave has now come under the Municipal Corporation. This is the beginning of real development and renewed hope,” he said.
Representative Sukhwinder Singh added that the long-standing demand has finally been met, calling Kohli’s working style “results-driven and people-centric.”
Naveen, representing MRS Avenue residents, said the decision reflects Kohli’s visionary leadership and continuous efforts.“He ensured the issue was strongly raised at every administrative and political level and that solutions were prioritised,” he said.
Senior social worker Roshan Lal Sharma said Kohli has brought “a new sense of trust and development-oriented thinking” to the area. “The strength of his leadership lies in understanding real public needs and converting them into actionable policy,” he said.
Local society representative Rajesh Chaddha added that Kohli followed the matter consistently and acted as the voice of the residents at every step, calling the decision “historic for the future of the constituency.”
Shaurya Green RWA President Paramvir Singh Pathania said the region will see visible development in the coming years. “This decision brings major relief to the entire area. Nitin Kohli’s tireless efforts have sparked new hope among the residents,” he said.
