The family of a woman from Hoshiarpur had accused an NRI groom’s family of hiding his cancer diagnosis, after he died just two-and-a-half months after their marriage. Now, following the allegations made by the woman’s family, the groom’s relatives have come forward with their side of the story.
Death or Murder?
The groom’s father said that his son had informed his wife about his medical condition before the marriage itself. He claimed that after the wedding, both his son and daughter-in-law travelled to the US. The flight journey was very long, and the medicines were handed over to the bride with instructions to give them to him during the journey. However, she allegedly did not give the medicines on time intentionally, due to which his health deteriorated.
Bride got an abortion
The father further claimed that his daughter-in-law stayed with his son for around a month after marriage. During this period, she became pregnant. However, she left after one-and-a-half months and allegedly got an abortion. He claimed that his son later went into depression and died. He also alleged that even after his death, the daughter-in-law did not come to see his face. He accused the woman’s family of making false allegations.
Four major claims made by the groom’s father:
1. Family knew about illness before marriage:
Kuldeep Singh said that Daljit Kaur, her daughter, and the entire family were aware of his son’s illness before the marriage. He said his son had told them everything because he wanted to spend his life with the girl after marriage and wanted to be transparent about his health condition. He alleged that the bride’s family was now trying to defame his son after his death. He added that when the couple travelled to the US after marriage, the medicines were with the bride.
2. Health deteriorated due to delay in medicines:
Kuldeep Singh claimed that after marriage, his son and daughter-in-law went to the US and the flight duration was very long. He alleged that the medicines were given to the bride, but she intentionally failed to give them on time. As a result, his son’s condition worsened after reaching abroad, and he was admitted to a hospital for three days. He later recovered and the couple even travelled to Dubai.
3. Allegation of abortion and social media post:
Kuldeep Singh alleged that his daughter-in-law Ramandeep Kaur stayed with his son for around a month and became pregnant during that period. He claimed that after leaving his son, she got an abortion with the help of her brother and also uploaded a post about it on social media. He said his son took the matter seriously and went into depression.
4. Daughter-in-law did not come even after his death:
He claimed that when his son died, Ramandeep did not even come to see him for the last time. He alleged that Daljit Kaur had stopped his son from speaking to Ramandeep. He further claimed that after the funeral, when they visited a village Gurdwara Sahib, Daljit Kaur and her husband abused and threatened them.
What did the woman’s family allege?
Relationship came in 2025, marriage took place on January 14, 2026:
According to the bride’s mother, her daughter was working in Canada. The proposal for Arundeep came through relatives. She claimed that the couple did not know each other before marriage. At the time of marriage, the groom was in the US and the girl was in Canada.
Illness discovered through medicines after marriage:
The mother claimed that her daughter checked the names of Arundeep’s medicines online, which revealed they were cancer-related medicines. She alleged that when questioned, the groom’s family denied any illness, but later documents showed that he had undergone brain tumour surgeries in 2021 and 2025.
Claim of spending ₹73 lakh on wedding:
The mother claimed that around ₹73 lakh was spent on the marriage, including 11 tolas of gold, a Thar vehicle, and ₹6–7 lakh as a customary gift. She also claimed that they have wedding videos and documents related to the illness as evidence.
