The Jalandhar City Police Commissionerate is using full precautions to ensure safe celebrations on the eve of December 31, with the setting up of 10 nakas at entry points into the city and also inside checkpoints managed by SHOs and Gazetted Officers. Further, 14 GOs are also to be deployed to oversee the situation in major areas.
Police will deploy 33 PCR vehicles for extensive patrolling across zones, while the traffic wing uses alcometers to check for drunk driving and enforce road safety. Focus areas include crowded markets like Gol Market, Model Town, and PPR Market, with increased foot patrols to prevent hooliganism and vehicle stunts.
Traffic rules designate one-way flow on roads leading to PPR and Gol Market to prevent jams, ban wrong parking with cranes actively towing violaters, and enforce breathalyzers checks everywhere targeting drunk drivers and speeders with zero tolerance ad immediate action.
All business entities, such as business outlets within the PPRs and markets, will be allowed to operate until 1:00 AM. However, severe actions will be taken against business entities operating past 1:00 AM. People are advised against playing music aloud, dancing on the streets, and drunk driving, while fines or arrests will be done accordingly.

Jalandhar Police extends New Year 2026 wishes, calling for responsible celebrations in peace and adherence to rules, with senior officers monitoring round-the-clock.
