The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit's prediction of thunderstorm, lightning and hail in Punjab has turned out to be true. Jalandhar, and other districts of Punjab were hit by thunderstorm, and lightning on late January 22 night. Not only this, but reports suggest that hail also fell in Dhilwan village of Jalandhar district on January 22 late night.
Notably, IMD Chandigarh has put Jalandhar along with many other districts on orange alert for thunderstorm, lightning, strong winds, and even hail.
While writing this report, Jalandhar City is still witnessing rainfall. Area like Shri Guru Ravidas Chowk has started to see water-logging as well. As a result, traffic is moving slowly in such areas.
According to Apple Weather App, rainfall is likely to continue in Jalandhar for entire day. However, around 6 pm in the evening, weather is expected to improve. After 6 pm, the weather app is showing no rainfall in Jalandhar.
The reason behind change of weather in Punjab is western disturbances. IMD on Monday issued an alert in which it wrote, "Under the influence of three Western Disturbances in quick succession, a wet spell is likely over the Western Himalayan region during the next 7 days."
