The Punjab government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana has been launched with the aim of providing cashless healthcare to families across the state and under the scheme, eligible families can get health insurance cover of up to ₹10 lakh per year, with treatment available at empanelled government and private hospitals.
For Jalandhar residents, the government’s empanelled-hospital list includes a large number of hospitals and healthcare centres across the district and the list covers facilities offering treatment in areas ranging from general medicine and surgery to cardiology, cancer care, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, maternity care, paediatrics, urology and eye care.
The scheme is being presented by the Punjab government as a major healthcare reform aimed at reducing the financial burden of medical treatment.
According to the Punjab government, the scheme provides up to ₹10 lakh cashless health insurance cover to every family in Punjab per year and the government says the scheme does not have an income-based exclusion criterion. People from different sections of society, including pensioners, government employees and private-sector employees, can enrol if they meet the stated identification requirements and the government has said that more than 65 lakh families and around 3 crore people are expected to benefit from the scheme.
Treatment for more than 2,000 major and minor diseases is covered under the scheme, according to the government and the coverage includes medical packages ranging from smaller procedures and surgeries to major treatments and critical care.
More than 900 government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh have been empanelled under the scheme, according to the government.
The Jalandhar list includes both private hospitals and government healthcare facilities.
