

Accused allegedly opened fire while trying to escape
A police encounter took place near the Dairy Complex in Jamsherpur, Jalandhar, on Friday, during which an alleged gangster was shot and injured in the leg. The accused has been identified as Sukhjinder alias Prince, a resident of Tarn Taran.
According to the police, Sukhjinder was allegedly planning to carry out a criminal act and was arrested based on CCTV footage from the area.
Police took accused for weapon recovery
After questioning the accused, a police team brought him to the Jamsherpur Dairy Complex area to recover the weapon allegedly used in the crime.
During the recovery operation, police said the accused managed to evade them and attempted to flee from the spot. He allegedly opened fire at the police while trying to escape.
The police then retaliated, leading to an exchange of fire at the location.
Three rounds fired during encounter
During the encounter, Sukhjinder sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was subsequently taken for treatment at a civil hospital. Police said that three rounds were fired during the encounter.
A bullet shell was also recovered from the spot, while the police recovered a pistol from the accused's possession.
Accused linked to Doni Bal gang
Police investigation has reportedly revealed that Sukhjinder is associated with the Doni Bal gang. Further investigation is underway to determine his alleged involvement in other criminal activities.
Police are also questioning the accused regarding the planned crime and the source and use of the recovered weapon.
