In a unique step to avoid traffic congestion and public inconvenience an early morning ‘Amrit Vela Nagar Kirtan’ will be organized in the city on April 11 on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Divas and according to organizers the Nagar Kirtan will begin at 5:00 AM and is expected to conclude by 8:00 AM. This is the first time such an event is being held during the early morning hours with a focus on smooth movement of traffic and public convenience. The procession will start from Gurdwara Diwan Asthan in Central Town and the Palki Sahib will be carried under the leadership of the Panj Pyare, following Sikh traditions.
Officials from the Gurdwara Management Committee said the decision to hold the Nagar Kirtan during ‘Amrit Vela’ was taken to ensure minimal disruption and since markets remain closed at that time business activities will not be affected and the early timing is also expected to reduce traffic on roads helping students and office-goers avoid delays. Organizers added that the timing will also allow people who are usually busy during the day to take part in the religious event.
The procession will begin from Gurdwara Diwan Asthan and pass through:
Lavkush Chowk
Phagwara Gate
Bhagat Singh Chowk
Panj Pir
Khingran Gate
Adda Hoshiarpur
Mai Hiran Gate
Patel Chowk
Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk
Rainak Bazar
After which it will then return via Lavkush Chowk and conclude at the starting point.
Gurmeet Singh Bittu General Secretary of the Gurdwara Management Committee along with other organizers has appealed to the sangat to follow the schedule and take part in a disciplined manner.
