In the meantime, Supreme Court of India on Monday granted bail to the SAD leader in the disproportionate assets case. The decision was given by a Bench led by Justice Vikram Nath.

As per the information, Majithia has been in jail since June 25. The three-time MLA, was arrested on June 25 after raids were conducted at his Amritsar residence and 25 other locations.

Later, he was sent to judicial custody on July 6, and currently he was lodged in the Nabha jail.

The Vigilance Bureau had filed a detailed charge sheet on August 22, which included over 40,000 pages of documentary evidence and statements from more than 200 witnesses.

The case is linked to the ED’s 2013 investigation that uncovered a Rs 6,000 crore synthetic drug racket. The Vigilance Bureau had revealed that the illegal and disproportionate assets worth Rs 700 crore in the charge sheet that they filed.
