Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Friday expressed some serious doubts over the government’s claim of adequate LPG supply. “The entire country is in a state of concern. I myself had to pay ₹2000 for a LPG cylinder of ₹1200. The whole country is being told everything is all right, but the truth seems to be far from that,” she said while speaking to the media.
The MP’s remarks come at a time when there are rumors of a possible shortage of LPG cylinders due to the tense situation in Gulf countries. Meanwhile, Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab government is keeping a close eye on the situation. “All Deputy Commissioners have been directed to see to it that there is no shortage of essential commodities. Strict action will be taken against those involved in hoarding, black marketing, or overcharging of LPG cylinders,” he said.
The Chief Minister also added that the issue has been taken up with the Union Government so that the supply of LPG cylinders is adequate so that the public does not face any inconvenience.
