Gunshots were fired at the 88-feet road in Amritsar late at night, leaving one person injured while the attackers fled from the spot immediately. This caused panic and fear in the area and locals express their feeling of being frightened in their own residential area.
According to the information, locals say that it seemed like a normal day at the 88-feet road and the area was slightly busy. Later, sounds of firing created ruckus as the shots were fired. This made locals and bystanders run to their homes and shops for safety. The eyewitnesses claim that the situation became so intense that the road cleared within a few seconds and everybody ran to save their lives. Some people say that the situation was so frightening as it was a busy road and a lot of innocent people could have been harmed by the attack.
Providing details about the case, Inspector Kirandeep Singh, SHO of Sadar Amritsar Police Station, said that the injured person has been identified as Simranjit Singh alias Billa. The video of the incident is being viral on social media platforms that shows Billa travelling in his Swift car and 2 young men following him who suddenly opened fire on him. The bystanders claim that the attackers were very clever in leaving the scene of incident very quickly while the police reached later and started their investigation. Police officials have registered a case at Sadar Police Station and begun a detailed investigation. Various teams have been formed to identify and track down the accused. Investigators are examining CCTV footage, the viral video, and other evidence to determine the motive behind the attack.
The SHO confirmed that the police teams are working on identifying the attackers on priority matters and they will be under arrest very soon. Authorities have assured the public that every effort is being made to bring those responsible to justice and maintain peace in the area. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as police continue their inquiries. While having a word with the public they expressed their concern that a major tragedy could have occurred if the bullets had struck a passerby.
