

A minor altercation took a deadly turn late Friday night in Seera village of Punjab's Gurdaspur district after a man was allegedly shot multiple times by his neighbour using a licensed revolver.
Identification of the victim
The deceased has been identified as Manpinder Singh alias Manna, son of Karnail Singh, a resident of Seera village. According to family members, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and was first taken to a private hospital in Batala before being referred to a private hospital in Amritsar, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The deceased was a married man and had 2 children who are now devastated after the situation.
Identity of the accused
The accused, identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, allegedly opened fire following a heated argument. Family members claimed that the accused's wife allegedly brought the licensed pistol from inside the house before the firing took place. They also alleged that the accused had previous animosity towards the victim
Statements by victim’s brother
Speaking to the media, the victim's brother said he witnessed the incident and alleged that the accused had earlier misbehaved with his sister-in-law. He claimed the accused fired directly at his brother, leaving him critically injured. After 6 bullets were shot on the victim, his brother tried to take him to hospital but 1 bullet was shot at him as well which missed.
Details of the attack
Meanwhile, DSP Fatehgarh Churian said that six rounds were fired and all six bullets struck the victim, leading to his death. Police have arrested both the accused and his wife, and a detailed investigation is underway. Speaking about the sequence of the attack, it was informed that the victim was travelling to his house when he got into a heated argument with the accused. The argument escalated when the accused’s wife handed him over a pistol and led to the bloodshed.
Victim died on the way
Speaking to one of the relative of the deceased, he informed that after the firing, Manna was taken to a Batala hospital and was still breathing, but he passed away when he was been taken to Amritsar for his treatment. Later the dead body was taken to the mortuary for medical examination.
Police from Ghanie Ke Bangar Police Station have registered a case and initiated further legal proceedings. The exact motive behind the incident is being investigated.
