In a shocking development, a man was shot dead on Wednesday outside SSP office in Mohali. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet, a resident of Roorkee in Uttarakhand. Initial reports suggest that two men on a motorcycle fired approximately 11 shots at the victim. Gurpreet died on the spot.
The incident caused a stir in the police department, and senior police officers rushed to the scene. The entire area was sealed off. A forensic team collected evidence from the crime scene, and the body has been sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem examination.
According to reports, Gurpreet was going somewhere with his wife when he was shot outside the SSP's office gate. Gurpreet sustained three gunshot wounds. After committing the crime, the attackers fled the scene.
All gates of the SSP office were closed for security reasons, and the movement of the general public was restricted for some time. Police have set up checkpoints across the district to track down the attackers.
Mohali SSP stated that preliminary investigations suggest the incident is linked to personal enmity as the possible motive behind the killing. Police teams are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the attackers. The culprits will be arrested soon.
