The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab is rolling out the Punjab Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme with the aim of shaping a brighter future for students.
Under this initiative, Class 11 and 12 students in government schools will receive skill-based education in business and marketing. The Mann government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a decisive step toward strengthening skill-based education, moving beyond the limitations of the traditional education system.
The focus is not merely on theoretical learning but on preparing youth for real-world employment. This forward-looking approach is expected to open new avenues for Punjab’s youth and help them become self-reliant. Through this scheme, students will gain financial literacy, independence, and a strong foundation in marketing and entrepreneurship, aligning education with modern technology and industry requirements.
This initiative is being described as a historic and visionary step that will equip every student with confidence and competence. The scheme aims to motivate students to become job creators rather than job seekers. To support this vision, the Punjab government will extend financial and technical assistance to progressive and innovative students.
The growing trust of the people of Punjab in the Mann government reflects its commitment to fulfilling public expectations, with confidence in the government increasing steadily.
The Punjab Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme is set to usher in a new phase for Punjab while ensuring a promising future for its students. It is expected to become a landmark in the ongoing education revolution. The AAP government’s objective goes beyond awarding degrees or diplomas—it seeks to ensure that students acquire practical skills that allow them to earn alongside their studies.
The ‘Schools of Eminence’, introduced by the Mann government, serve as the backbone of this initiative. In these schools, students from Classes 9 to 12 are groomed through skill enhancement programs, along with free preparation for competitive examinations such as JEE, NEET, and civil services, paving the way for a successful future for Punjab’s youth.
In April 2025, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the ‘World Skill Excellence Complex’ in Ludhiana, which houses a modern Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and a Multi-Skill Development Centre (MSDC). This advanced facility has the capacity to train over 3,000 students every year.
Under the Mann government, ITI institutions across Punjab have been revitalized, resulting in a sharp rise in enrollment—from 50–60% to nearly 97%—due to upgraded technology and improved training standards. Skill development is also being used as a tool to combat drug addiction among youth. In July 2025, a special course was launched to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, with a target of reaching over 8 lakh students.
Through the ‘Punjab Skill Development Mission’, the government is actively safeguarding the youth from the drug menace while steering Punjab toward progress.
The Mann government’s emphasis on skill education represents a vital investment in Punjab’s future. From Schools of Eminence to modernized ITIs and skill development centres, these initiatives are not only enhancing education but also ensuring economic self-reliance for young people.
This integrated approach has the potential to establish Punjab as a state where education is directly linked with employment and prosperity—a transformation that has become possible under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann. After many years, Punjab’s education sector is witnessing the beginning of a truly new era.
