Punjab is on orange alert for dense fog and visibility during the daytime as well as night-time has started to drop sharply. Dense fog in Punjab triggered a multi vehicle collision at Jalandhar-Jammu National Highway on Thursday.
According to reports, 5 vehicles collided near Kala Bakra village on the Jalandhar-Jammu National Highway due to the dense fog.
A truck was traveling on the highway when a tipper truck behind it collided with it. Other vehicles following behind then also crashed into each other. Several vehicles sustained significant damage. Fortunately, there were no reports of any casualties in the accident.
Upon receiving the information, a road safety team arrived at the scene, removed the damaged vehicles from the road, and restored traffic flow.
The highway was then reopened. The road safety team informed the police about the incident, and the police have launched an investigation. Given the persistent fog, the administration has appealed to drivers to exercise caution and drive slowly.
