NHS Hospital has become the first hospital in the region to offer scoliosis surgery, a highly specialized treatment for children and adults with spinal deformities. Until now, families had to travel to Delhi or South India for such care.
The program is led by Dr. Shubhang Aggarwal, Director and Head of Orthopaedics at NHS Hospital, who is developing availability of orthopaedic sub-specialities like scoliosis surgery and paediatric orthopaedics in Punjab. He is joined by Dr. Saransh Gupta, a fellowship-trained scoliosis surgeon, with a vast experience of paediatric spine surgery to provide world-class expertise locally.
To mark the launch, a free Scoliosis Screening Camp will be held at NHS Hospital on Saturday, September 13. Between 9am to 3pm at NHS Hospital premises.
Parents are encouraged to bring children if they notice: a crooked or tilted neck, drooping shoulders, uneven posture, or a visible spinal curve.
“Scoliosis is treatable if detected early. With bracing or surgery, we can dramatically improve a child’s quality of life,” said Dr. Aggarwal.
This initiative cements NHS Hospital’s role as a regional leader in advanced orthopaedics, bringing metro-level healthcare to Punjab.
