Nidhi Kohli, wife of Aam Aadmi Party’s Jalandhar Central In-charge Nitin Kohli, has intensified public outreach across Jalandhar Central by holding meetings with women in various wards and listening to their concerns, suggestions and priorities.

The meetings were organised in Ward Nos. 5, 6, 7, 8, 21, 22, 23, 64, 65, 66 and 70, with active participation from women residents. The initiative focused on strengthening the women’s wing at the grassroots level and establishing regular, direct communication with women across the constituency.

During the meetings, Nidhi Kohli interacted with residents and discussed issues concerning the area, along with matters related to women’s welfare and development. She said that continuous engagement with residents is essential to understand local concerns and ensure that their suggestions and priorities are taken forward effectively.

The Punjab Government’s Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojana was also highlighted during the meetings. Under the scheme, eligible women receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month, while eligible women belonging to the Scheduled Caste community receive ₹1,500 per month.

Nidhi Kohli said that women play an important role in strengthening families, communities and society. She said that initiatives providing financial support to women can contribute to their economic independence and dignity, while greater participation of women can further strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.

Gurpreet Kaur, State Vice President of the Women Wing, along with other councillors and ward in-charges, was also present during the meetings.

The meetings were organised with the support of ward in-charges and councillors from the respective wards, including Ward No. 5 councillor Navdeep Kaur, Ward No. 8 councillor Amardeep Singh Kinnu, Ward No. 21 councillor Jaswinder Singh Billa, Ward No. 22 councillor Love Robin, Ward No. 23 councillor Harpal Mintu, Ward No. 65 councillor Parveen Vasan and Ward No. 70 councillor Jatin Gulati.

Ward No. 6 in-charge Tarlok Singh Saran, Ward No. 7 in-charge Parveen Pehlwan, Ward No. 64 in-charge and former Mayor Jagdish Raja, and Nikhil Arora from Ward No. 66 also supported and coordinated the meetings.

Nidhi Kohli said that the objective of the outreach programme is to establish direct contact with women in every ward of Jalandhar Central and bring them together through a stronger and more active organisational network. She said that similar meetings would continue in different wards in the coming days, with priority being given to women’s concerns, suggestions and local development issues.

She added that regular interaction with residents would remain a key focus of the outreach programme so that issues raised at the grassroots level could be taken forward in a systematic manner.
