The controversy between Punjabi singer Ninja and sound operators in Punjab appears to be far from over. What began with a microphone malfunction during a live performance in Batala has now turned into a public war of words, with the singer’s latest remarks once again drawing attention online.
The dispute started after Ninja’s microphone reportedly stopped working multiple times during the Rangla Punjab programme in Batala on August 28. Frustrated by the repeated disruption, the singer criticised the sound operator from the stage.
Following the incident, sound operators across Punjab demanded an apology from the singer. However, instead of offering one, Ninja has now made remarks about the sound operators’ protest plans, reigniting the controversy.
Mic Cuts Out During Batala Performance
The controversy dates back to August 28, when Ninja was performing at the Dana Mandi in Batala. During the live show, his microphone reportedly stopped working two to three times.
The repeated interruptions visibly frustrated the singer, who addressed the issue from the stage. While speaking to the audience, Ninja apologised to the people of Batala and the organising committee, but also expressed his anger over the sound arrangements.
He said that a singer puts considerable effort into performing and that he did not want such an issue to happen again.
A video of the incident subsequently went viral on social media, drawing a strong reaction from sound operators across Punjab.
Sound Operators Demand Apology
Following Ninja’s remarks, sound operators reportedly came together and demanded that the singer apologise for the comments made during the Batala show.
The issue gained momentum as members of the sound fraternity objected to what they considered disrespectful remarks towards their profession.
The controversy, however, did not end with the Batala event.
Ninja Takes Fresh Dig At Sound Operators
The matter resurfaced on September 2 during the Sakhi Shakti Mela at the Khalsa School Ground in Mandi Gobindgarh.
Instead of apologising, Ninja referred to the sound operators’ fraternity from the stage and claimed that he had heard they were planning to stage a protest against him.
Taking a sarcastic swipe at them, the singer remarked that work for sound operators tends to slow down during the summer and added that an idle mind is “the devil’s workshop.”
His comments were captured on video and quickly went viral, bringing the controversy back into the spotlight.
‘When Winter Season Comes, You’ll Forget’
Ninja further suggested that the dispute would eventually be forgotten once the winter season brought more work for sound operators.
He said that everyone involved meets regularly and urged them to move on, adding that people should live together peacefully and enjoy themselves.
Towards the end of his remarks, Ninja also praised the sound arrangement at the Mandi Gobindgarh event and asked the audience to applaud the sound team.
For now, however, the singer’s latest comments have ensured that the Ninja-sound operators dispute remains firmly in the public eye.
