Pulkit Sharma a former national-level cricketer and state gold medalist in inline hockey has alleged irregularities in the land registration process in Punjab claiming that bribes were demanded during the procedure. According to a public post shared by Sharma he recently completed the registration of a piece of land in the state and alleged that payments were made to a tehsildar and several other individuals involved in the process and claimed that around 28 people were part of the system and that as per his lawyer each person had a “fixed rate.”

He further stated that despite the land being legally clear commonly referred to as “white” the process still involved such payments and further also alleged that any mistake in the procedure could lead to delays or the file being put on hold.

Describing the experience as “shameful” Sharma said such practices make it difficult for people to invest in Punjab and in his post he tagged leaders including Punjab’s CM Bhagwant Mann, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Amarinder Singh along with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
