Parm, the Punjabi artist from Moga who rose to fame with her song That Girl, is trending once again with her latest track Mera Mahi. The song has been written, composed, and sung by Parm herself. Listeners say her singing style in this track reminds them of the late singer Sidhu Moosewala, as she has adopted a similar tone and attitude in her performance.
Within just two days of its release, Mera Mahi has already crossed 5.85 lakh views on YouTube and over 8 million plays on Instagram. Her previous song That Girl, released a month ago, had gone viral too, with 16 million views on YouTube and 22 million on Instagram.
According to the video director of That Girl, Parm was quite nervous during the shoot of her first music video. She reportedly had to give around 50 takes for the opening scene before the final one was selected. However, after that, she gained confidence and performed naturally in the rest of the video.
For her second track Mera Mahi, Parm practiced extensively with her old friends from Moga’s rap community, known as “Cypher.” She even shared a behind-the-scenes video on social media, showing her rehearsing the lyrics and rhythm with her friends. However, Parm has not revealed who produced the music for Mera Mahi, nor has she mentioned it on any of her social media handles.
Recently, Parm performed her first live show in Mumbai, clips of which she shared on Instagram. Her performance drew a large crowd, and when she sang her viral line “Ni main addi na patashe jawan pordi,” the audience enthusiastically sang along and cheered her with whistles and applause.
Apart from rap, Parm also has a strong command over classical music. In her earlier videos, she can be seen performing songs like “Bekariyan Hundiyan Keemti Ji” by Satinder Sartaaj and the Hindi song “Gumsum… Gumsum.”
