The BFUHS Pharmacy Officer Recruitement 2026, an exam conducted for the pharmacy officer took place on 19th July in several centers of Faridkot, Kot Kapura and Ferozpur. Amidst this a major inter-state cheating racket was busted by Punjab Police. A joint operation was held by Faridkot range police, Ferozpur range police and counter intelligence wing of Punjab and was held in real time.
Operation of the cheating racket
Within minutes of the start of exam, a candidate scanned the question paper using a pen camera and sent it to his conspirator in Haryana. The paper was later sent to Gurmeet Singh (Accused) in Faridkot, who operates a temporary control room in his residence. The answers to the questions were later supplied to the students using wireless devices. The police arrested 6 conspirators involved in the cheating racket before the exam was over. 28 students were also detained by the police involved in the scam. 22 out of the lot were captured from Faridkot while 4 were detained from Ferozpur, a total of 26 are held by the police.
FIRs registered on this case
An FIR has been registered in Cyber Crime station, Faridkot under 318 BNS, 112 BNS and Section 66 D IT act. In addition to this, 2 FIRs have been registered in Ferozpur, 1 at Cantt police station while other at Kulgarhi Police station under sections of BNS.
Accused people to be arrested
Along with the arrested accused, 4 are still remaining. One is identified as Sajan, a resident of Bhiwani and others from various districts of Punjab. To arrest the unidentified accused, police officials have formed teams to raid various places and get them under arrest.
Not a case of paper leak
IG, Faridkot range clearly mentioned that no case of paper leak is involved in this case neither officials of the institutions nor authorities involved in conduct of exam play any role in this cheating racket. The examination process is free and fair and is designed to provide equal opportunities to all. Giving clarifications on the allegations, she said the examination was not hacked, while some individuals tried to cheat in the examinations using advanced technology.
Punjab polices’ No tolerance policy against corruption and Unfair means
She mentioned that the racket was dismantled under Punjab polices’ No tolerance policy against corruption and Unfair means. It was alleged that an amount of 3.5 Lakhs to 15 Lakhs was to be produced for the answers but as per reports only post-dated cheques were given to the accused people along with some documents. Details will be clearly stated after the recovery ofthese evidences. Forensic investigation of the recovered devices is underway in order to look into the matter for clearer proofs in the matter
