

An incident from Nangal Colony was reported after a group of armed youths allegedly opened fire and attacked the door of a house with sharp-edged weapons in the early hours of Monday. The incident, which reportedly took place around 1:30 am, was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.
According to the family, this was not the first attack on their house. They claimed that the latest incident was linked to an old rivalry between the two sides.
Attackers arrive on motorcycles
CCTV footage reportedly shows motorcycle-borne youths arriving at the location and carrying out the attack. The assailants allegedly fired several rounds and struck the house's main door with sharp-edged weapons before fleeing the spot.
The youths were also allegedly heard hurling abuses during the incident. The attack has left residents of the locality concerned about their safety.
Victim alleges attack by armed group
Victim Priyansh Kumar alleged that around 12 to 13 youths attacked his house. He said the attackers used sharp-edged weapons to strike the door and also fired shots.
Priyansh claimed that the attackers included youths identified by him as Piyush, Simar Gugli, Shammi, Mano and Dhanna, allegedly from the Tibi and Rattan Nagar areas. He further alleged that the group was carrying two to three pistols along with sharp-edged weapons.
According to Priyansh, the dispute escalated after an altercation involving a person associated with his group about a week ago. He alleged that threats and abuses followed, eventually leading to the latest attack.
Police recover bullet shells and cartridge
Following information about the firing, police reached the spot and began investigating the incident. Police officials said they received information through the 112 emergency helpline regarding gunshots.
During the investigation, police recovered three spent bullet shells and one live cartridge from the scene. The investigating officer said preliminary findings suggested that the incident was connected to an old rivalry.
Police said the family reported that around four youths were involved in the attack, while the investigation is continuing.
CCTV footage taken into possession
The investigating team has taken the CCTV footage into possession to identify the accused and establish the sequence of events.
Police said approximately five to six shots were fired, with three shells recovered from the spot. Further action will be taken based on the CCTV footage and other evidence collected during the investigation.
The incident has raised concerns among residents over the use of firearms and weapons during local disputes.
