

Police DAV Public School in Jalandhar will remain closed on Friday, July 17, due to security arrangements and expected traffic disruptions during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city. In a notice issued to parents, the school said the decision has been taken in view of the security measures and anticipated traffic restrictions linked to the Prime Minister's visit.
The school also informed that the examination scheduled for July 17 has been postponed to July 21 (Tuesday) and all other examinations will be conducted as per the existing schedule.
The closure comes as Punjab Police has put extensive security and traffic arrangements in place ahead of the Prime Minister's programme in Jalandhar and according to Punjab Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Praveen Kumar Sinha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Jalandhar at around 3:30 pm and stay in the city for approximately one-and-a-half hours.
During the visit, he will inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station and virtually dedicate 74 redeveloped railway stations across the country to the public, the Punjab Police has advised commuters to avoid travelling on National Highway-44, particularly the Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Pathankot stretch, between 2 pm and 5:30 pm.
