The parents of gangster Goldy Brar have been held on Monday in connection with a case registered at the Sadar Police Station in Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab. As per the information, Shamsher Singh the son of Gurbaksh Singh along with his wife Preetpal Kaur, both residents of Adesh Nagar, Kotkapura located in Sri Muktsar Sahib were taken into custody in connection with a FIR dating back to December 3, 2024 accusing them of extortion.
The case was registered under Section 308(4), 351(1) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the complaint filed by a resident of Udhekaran village, Satnam Singh.
As per information, the complainant states that he has been working in the education department for the past 33 years. Talking further he claims that on November 27, 2024 between 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM he received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number while he was on official duty. He adds that the caller allegedly identified himself as a member of the Bambiha group, and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 Lakh from him.
Allegedly, the caller threatened to kill the complainant and his family if the said amount was not paid. The caller claimed to have complete information about his family and his residence. Following this call the complainant further stated that he received several similar threatening calls throughout the day that left him extremely frightened.
Satnam Singh also informed the police that on December 3, 2024 while he was travelling from village Udhekaran to his workplace, he again received a WhatsApp call from the same foreign number that he chose not to answer out of fear. Satnam recalls being mentally disturbed throughout the day due to this incident. Later, after discussing the issue with his family, Satnam along with his brother approached the Sadar Police Station in Sri Muktsar Sahib and demanded strict legal action against the unknown person who was repeatedly threatening him with death threats in exchange of a hefty ransom amount.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhimanyu Rana has confirmed the arrest of gangster Goldy Brar’s parents from Amritsar. As per the information the accused will be produced in the Muktsar court on Tuesday morning. As per the SSP, Goldy Brar’s parents were staying at a hotel near Darbar Sahib during the arrest.
