

The Punjab Police claimed to have solved the recent house firing case in Jandiala Guru within 36 hours after arresting the main accused following an encounter. The accused, identified as Lovepreet Singh, son of Mangal Singh and a resident of Jyotisar, was injured in his left leg during an exchange of fire with the police.
Sequence of the encounter
According to DSP Baljit Singh, police had set up a checkpoint near Jania Mor under the supervision of SHO Harpal Singh after receiving specific information about the accused's movement. Acting swiftly on the information received, when Lovepreet Singh Alias Love arrived on a motorcycle, the police signalled him to stop. Instead, he allegedly opened fire on the police team. The police retaliated, during which SHO Harpal shot a bullet in the fire and another bullet was shot on his left leg warning him.
Firing from both the side
Answering to the reporter’s question of how many rounds were fired, DSP answered, 3 fires were made by the accused while 2 fires were made by SHO in defence. He also informed that accused Love was involved in the group who fired at the house on 8 July. Police recovered a .30 bore magazine-fed pistol, three live cartridges, and the motorcycle used by the accused.
Cause of firing at the house
During the investigation, police found that the firing incident at a house in Sheikhupura Mohalla on 8 July 2026, was linked to a dispute inside Amritsar Central Jail. DSP Baljit Singh said the targeted house belongs to Baljit Singh alias Bulli, who is currently lodged in Amritsar Jail. A day before the attack, Bulli allegedly had an argument inside the jail with Sajan alias Kana. Police suspect that following the dispute, associates of Sajan alias Kana allegedly carried out the firing at Bulli's house in Jandiala Guru.
Cases against the accused
Officials said Lovepreet Singh already has nine criminal cases registered against him. He added he has hault cases registered under 307 and many cases of snatching and robbery
Warning by the officials
Warning such criminals, DSP Baljit Singh said, although crimes in Jandiala are in control, but anybody who tries to breach the security or carry out any kind of chaos, will be handled by the police and strict actions will be taken against such miscreants.
Further investigation
Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the remaining accused involved in the case.
