Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Jalandhar today to address the concluding rally of the BJP’s 13-day ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’, which began on September 18 and covered all 117 Assembly constituencies across Punjab. The four routes together covered nearly 4,000 km before converging in Jalandhar.
Shah is scheduled to address the anti-drug rally at Paragpur along NH-44. The BJP has made arrangements at a large venue and expects supporters from across the state. The visit also comes ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
Ahead of his visit, posters and hoardings questioning the BJP have appeared at several locations across Jalandhar. The posters question posters question BJP-Akali Dal plan to introduce ‘three black laws’. Other hoardings seen across the city have raised questions about Punjab’s water-sharing issues with Haryana and Rajasthan, as well as drug trafficking into the state. The people or organisation behind the hoardings have not publicly claimed responsibility.
