On the occasion of birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji, a massive procession is being taken out today (January 31). The procession was scheduled to begin at 10 AM from Satguru Ravidass Dham in Buta Mandi. The procession will conclude at the Dhan late in the evening today. Later, a religious diwan will then be held on February 1 and the congregation will pay obeisance at Buta Mandi from early morning until the next morning.
The congregation will pass through Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk, Wadala Chowk, Babu Jagjivan Ram Chowk, Model Town, Old GT Road, Basti area and Model House. Later the congregation will arrive at Buta Mandi led by a convoy of tractor-trolleys and palanquins.
Keeping this annual celebration in view at the Guru Ravidass Dham the vehicular traffic from Wadala Chowk to Guru Ravidass Chowk and Chowk will remain restricted for three days starting from January 31 and up until February 2.
The traffic police have also issued a helpline number 0181-2227296 for the public.
The procession has begun from the Satguru Ravidas Dham in Buta Mandi is en route to Guru Ravidass Chowk, Dr. Ambedkar Chowk, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, Milap Chowk, Adda Hoshiarpur, Mai Hiran Gate, Patel Chowk, Basti Adda Chowk, Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and return back at Guru Ravidass Chowk.
The procession route from Basti Guzan will start from Guru Ravidass Temple and will pass through Basti Guzan Chowk, Football Chowk, Nakodar Chowk, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, and will conclude from Basti Adda Chowk.
Amritsar route: The vehicles will be diverted from Workshop Chowk
Kapurthala route: Vehicles will be diverted from Kapurthala Chowk
Ludhiana and heavy city traffic: Diversions from BMC Chowk and PAP chowk.
VVIP parking: Arrangements near Khalsa Senior Secondary school.
General parking: Parking available near Manbro Chowk and on both sides of the road. Vehicles can also be parked near Wadala Chowk Chara Mandi.
Nakodar, Shahkot route: For the next three days, vehicles and buses travelling to and from Nakodar and Shahkot will use route via Sutlej Chowk, Samra Chowk, Cool Road and CT institute via Pratapura-Nakodar route.
There would be special restrictions on Kapurthala road from 8 AM to 10 PM. Commuters travelling to Kapurthala would have to take route via Nakodar Chowk, Basti Bawa Khel or PAP Chowk.
