Prolonged sewerage repair work in Deep Nagar near Jalandhar Cantt leaves roads damaged

Reportedly several roads have been severely damaged, and the repair work has been delayed, with debris piled on the streets and potholes left open.

An anonymous person has reported to True Scoop that there is something alarming that is happening in Deep Nagar next to Jalandhar Cantt in Jalandhar. This matter relates some old civic problems with sewerage pipeline work going on.

As per the resident’s statement, there have been several instances of digging up of roads in the past one year. Some of the roads in this locality have been damaged owing to the above reasons. There has been a delay in repairing the roads, which is causing a lot of hassle according to residents.

Several open pits and potholes are present here with stagnant water. The smell here is quite offensive. There is a fear among residents regarding the breeding of mosquitoes and occurrence of diseases under such circumstances. The elderly people find it difficult to pass through such roads. Several sections have debris scattered which causes hindrance to movement.

Moreover, as per the resident claims that, there have been some previous repairs made in several sections, which have not been resurfaced well. As such, during the rainy season, these sections encounter problems relating to flooding due to poor drainage systems. Work in relation to sewerage pipelines has been in progress in the said locality for approximately two months.

In addition to that, it is claimed that using the JCB machinery during the digging operation may have damaged the sewage pipe line network already in existence and increased their drainage problem. As per residents residing near the area of Rambagh, they were also experiencing the same problem. The primary concern for them is to successfully complete the job and use the roadways once again.
