Punjab Cabinet nods medical college in Lehragaga, 400-bedded hospital planned

A Punjab Cabinet meeting took place today where major big decisions were taken regarding Punjab. After the meeting concluded, Punjab Cabinet Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Barinder Kumar Goyal addressing the media about the major decisions taken by the Cabinet.

Addressing the media, Harpal Singh Cheema said that all these decisions have been taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Mann keeping in mind the progress of Punjab.

The biggest decision that was taken was regarding Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology at Lehragaga town in Sangrur. Cheema adds that the institute had been closed due to the failure of the previous governments. He blames Akali Dal and BJP for the downfall of the college. He says that there were no students in the college and due to that the staff of the college became unemployed, but now all the 93 teachers will be adjusted in different departments, providing them employment.

The Finance Minister of Punjab Harpal Singh Cheema adds that a medical college will be established there, where students will pursue MBBS degrees. He adds, this will improve healthcare facilities with in a 150 kilometer radius of the Malwa region.

Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal also adds, that the college building had been lying vacant. He adds that now a medical college would be built here that would be operational within a month. He also assures that 400-bed hospital will be fully functional within a year here, the hospitals in Moonak and Khanauri will also function under this hospital.
