Three-Four Youths Allegedly Stopped Their Motorcycle at Babbehali Adda
A Punjab Police constable and his sister were allegedly attacked by a group of unidentified youths at Babbehali Adda in Gurdaspur. Both sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
According to Constable Karanpreet Singh, the attack was linked to information he had allegedly provided to senior police officials about drug peddlers operating in his village. He claimed that those involved in drug trafficking were angry with him over the tip-off and that he was attacked out of retaliation.
Constable Claims He Was Targeted Earlier Too
Karanpreet Singh alleged that this was not the first time he had been attacked. He claimed that an earlier attack had also taken place, but no action was taken by the police.
He further said that his sister, Baljinder Kaur, was also targeted and suffered injuries in the latest attack.
Probe Underway to Identify Attackers
Police said Karanpreet Singh was on duty at the Babbehali Chhinj when information was received about a fight at Babbehali Adda. By the time he reached the spot, the attack had already taken place and the injured constable and his sister had been taken to the hospital.
The police have launched an investigation to identify the attackers. Officials said legal action would be taken against those found responsible.
