The IMD has said the western disbursement would result in substantial weather changes in the State of Punjab and Haryana. There will also be a slight change and drop in temperatures at night and in the mornings, as the disbursement is active.

Expected outcome in the State of Punjab

The IMD has said the new weather pattern will be northeast Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Hoshiarpur and then in the Central Punjab towns and Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Patiala. Punjab farmers are asked to be vigilant, during the wet period and to cancel any irrigation and pesticide spraying.

Local weather experts say the rain could improve the air quality temporarily, especially after the recent pollution concerns during Diwali and the incidents of stubble burning. However, subsequent humidity and fog formation in the latter part of the week are also possible once rainfall subsides.
