The Punjab government has constituted a seven-member committee to coordinate with the committee formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib in connection with the ‘Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026’.

According to the government order, the committee has been formed to maintain coordination with the panel constituted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Sri Amritsar, and to discuss matters related to the Act and the seven-member committee includes former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, Mukhi of Damdami Taksal, and Sant Baba Sewa Singh of Rampur Khera,  former Justice Jaspal Singh and former Justice Gurbir Singh.

Jatinder Singh Aulakh, former IPS officer and former Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), has also been appointed as a member. Preet Inder Paul Singh, a law officer, is the seventh member of the committee.

As per the order, the committee will maintain continuous coordination, communication and discussions with the committee constituted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the panel will also consider important issues and suggestions related to the matter.

It will submit reports on these issues and recommendations to the Punjab government for any further action that may be required.
