The Punjab Government had earlier officially released a list of gazette holidays for the year 2026 and the notification was issued by the Personnel Department (Personnel Policy-3 Branch). October 2026 will bring four holidays in Punjab, including Gandhi Jayanti, Maharaja Agrasain Jayanti, Dussehra and Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.
According to the schedule:
October 2 (Friday): Gandhi Jayanti
October 11(Sunday): Maharaja Agrasain Jayanti
October 20 (Tuesday): Dussehra
October 26 (Monday): Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti
As per the official notification issued by the state these dates have been included in the list of gazette holidays for the month of October and all government offices, educational institutions and public sector organizations across Punjab will remain closed on these days. The decision is part of the government’s annual holiday calendar. Authorities have stated that while regular services will remain suspended, essential services will continue to function as per standard arrangements.
