The Punjab Mini Secretariat in Sector 9 and the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Sector 1 has received a bomb threat via email warning of blasts. Upon receiving the information, the police administration promptly swung into action and evacuated the entire area. The security has been beefed up following the threat and currently the authorities are carrying out through checks and keeping security in view the Haryana Secretariat has also been put on alert.
To keep security uptight, the police cordoned off the area and people were safely evacuated from the Secretariat. Various teams from the police force, CRPF, bomb disposal squad and dog squad have arrived at the scene. Currently, the entire area is being searched thoroughly. All suspicious objects are being checked and every visitor is being monitored.
It is noteworthy that Fortis Hospital in Punjab’s Mohali and nearby schools in the area also received a bomb threat on Tuesday. The Fortis Hospital that received the bomb threat is the same hospital where Punjab’s CM Bhagwant Singh Mann had been admitted. However, following the bomb threat, a thorough search operation was conducted at the hospital premises and nothing suspicious was found which was confirmed by Superintendent of Police (SP) City Mohali Dilpreet Singh.
