An attempted ATM theft at a Punjab & Sind Bank ATM in Khadur Sahib’s Nagoke Road area was reported late at night, with two masked individuals allegedly trying to break into the machine and steal cash. The attempt failed, although the ATM was reportedly badly damaged in the process.
ATM targeted during night
According to the complaint submitted by bank manager Lokesh Singh, two unidentified men allegedly breached the wall of the ATM area and attempted to access the cash inside the machine. The suspects reportedly carried out extensive vandalism but were unable to remove any money from the ATM.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Goindwal Sahib police station.
Bank manager raises patrol concerns
The bank manager reportedly raised concerns over nighttime police patrolling in the area, alleging that the lack of adequate patrols may have contributed to the incident.
The matter has also raised questions about the security arrangements around ATMs operating in the town, particularly during late-night hours.
Police register case, begin search
The in-charge of Khadur Sahib police post said a case has been registered at Goindwal Sahib police station in connection with the attempted ATM break-in. Police have begun efforts to identify and trace the unidentified suspects.
