
Penalties for traffic violations in Punjab has increased in the year 2025. The Government of Punjab has hiked the charges of traffic violations so that people follow the rules and keep themselves along with others safe.
However, sometimes people often get confused how much fine they should pay if caught violating Punjab Traffic Rules 2025. Continue reading below to know the answer-
As per insurance website Acko, new Punjab Traffic fines have been effective from 1st March 2025. Below is a detailed list-
Driving under the influence of alcohol- old price was Rs 1000-1500, new fines are now Rs.10,000 and/or 6 months imprisonment
Riding without helmet- Old fine was Rs 100, new fine is now Rs.1000 and scrapping of licence for 3 months (if repeated)
Driving without seat belts- Old fine was Rs 100, new fine is Rs 1000
Using a mobile phone while driving- Old fine was Rs 500, new fine is Rs 5000.
Driving without a valid driving licence - Old fine was Rs 500, new fine is Rs 5000.
Triple riding- Old fine was Rs 100, new fine is Rs 1000.
Driving without valid insurance- old fine was Rs 200-400, new fine is now Rs.2000-4000
Driving without a valid PUC (Pollution Under Control)- old fine was Rs 1000, new fine is Rs.10,000 and/or 6 months or imprisonment or community service.
Dangerous driving- Old fine was Rs 500, new fine is Rs 5000.
Obstructing ways for emergency vehicles- Old fine was Rs 1000, new fine is Rs 10,000.
Overspeeding- Old fine was Rs 500, new fine is Rs 5000.
Any traffic violation made by a minor- Old fine Rs 2500, new fine is Rs.25,000 and 3 years of imprisonment, cancellation of vehicle registration for 1 year, and being ineligible for getting a driving licence until 25 years of age.
Signal jumping- Old fine was Rs 500, new fine Rs 5000.
