
In a major development, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the union government has officially approved the induction of J Elanchezhian.
J Elanchezhian is IPS officer of Punjab cadre, 2010 batch. He has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on deputation.
As per the official communication, Elanchezhian will serve in the CBI for an initial period of five years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The Government of Punjab has been requested to relieve him within three weeks from the date of issuance of the letter to enable him to take up his new assignment at the Centre.
For the unversed, Elanchezhian is currently serving as Director, Vigilance Bureau, Punjab. He has also been heading important investigations, including a high-profile case involving Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Raman Arora.
