
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected at 14 different locations in Punjab including Jalandhar. The Department has issued a Yellow alert for August 23, 24 & 25 with the warnings of heavy rain, thunderstorms and heavy winds in several districts. Advisory has been issued and people are asked to remain careful for the three days and cancel non-essential travel.
Although today, the sun is shining bright with partly cloudy skies in Jalandhar and areas around Punjab, yesterday Jalandhar and areas of Punjab witnessed heavy rainfall in areas with huge water logging at pivotal areas.
According to AccuWeather predictions, the sky will mostly be clear on August 23 with partly clouds at night. For 24th August the predictions say that the weather will be humid with morning drizzles and late t-storms expected. Similarly for 25th the predictions are for rainfall.
As per the prediction, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazika. Sri Mukstar Sahib, Bathinda, Mohali, Moga, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Saheed Bhagat Singh Nagar will have heavy showers, according to the forecast.
Rainfall, along with a wind speed of 30-40 kmph and lightning is also expected.
Experts have advised the farmers to prepare the fields for proper drainage so that standing crops are safe from waterlogging.
The advisories have been issued by the state authorities for the people to stay alert, safe and vigilant on the weather updates. The helpline numbers have also been issued area specific to call for any aid in events of emergency.
